For many women, menopause signals the feared point of no return where age has finally caught up to them and they are no longer young. And for some women, menopause is also a blessing where the richest years of their lives come to life; they escape the monthly "curse" and no longer fear pregnancy, adding to the newfound sexual freedom that they can share with their partners. Menopause is the 'free' half of a woman's life where their obligations no longer reside in household matters, child rearing, and occupational obligations.

Menopause, then, can be seen both as a blessing and as a curse and one setback that derives itself from the sudden change is a drop in estrogen production which results in thinning of the vaginal walls, a decrease in vaginal elasticity, and most notably, vaginal dryness. Vaginally dryness not only takes the pleasure out of sex and makes spontaneity difficult, it can also indicate potentially serious problems.
